Some 45 days to the August 9 general election, Lugari Ward in Lugari Sub-County will have among the highest number of contestants appearing on a single ballot.
The 20 cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will compete for the 13,737 registered votes in one of the most hotly contested races involving mostly young people.
Marakusi Location is presenting a total of 12 candidates. They are Jarom M., Erick Matsanza, Erick Matsanza, Philemon Siahi, Bernard Arula, Isaac Wafula, Vincent Anyonge, Sara Wawire, Richard Sisa, Jared Ondego, Albert Egenya, Violet Ananda, and Derick Musera.
Lugari Location is fielding Kelvin Ndeda, Sammy Odera, Grey Moi, John Mukulo, William Makhalanya, Dickson Wasilwa, Dennis Manyengo and Dan Imbwaga—a total of eight candidates.
The high number of contestants implies that the winner will win narrowly, thus making the race unpredictable.
