Bungoma County government has taken a move to outlaw dico matanga involving nights of entertainment occasioned by dances and raving escapades in funerals by young people.
Bungoma County Commissioner, Samuel Kimiti, announced on Wednesday during the county interfair building capacity to respond to the triple threat of HIV that the government has banned disco matanga following reports on incidences of crime, abuse of drugs, and irresponsible sexual behavior.

He noted that such incidences have spiked HIV infections among young people.
“The triple threat affects development, security, and our lives, more so that of children,” he said.
Mr. Kimiti further said that scuffles witnessed in disco matangas propel incidences of gender-based violence, another reason why the government decided to outlaw it.
