Two police officers’ disagreement at a local pub in Kitale turned bloody after one stabbed his friend for refusing to settle a beer bill.
In the puzzling incident, an anti-stock theft unit (ASTU) officer attached to Keiyo Ward and his friend, an inspector at Kwanza Police Station, were drinking at the pub before a confrontation ensued.
OCPD Kwanza Sub-County, James Odero, while confirming the incident, said that the ASTU police officer, who was drunk, refused to settle his bills with the waiter and asked his friend to do so, which he declined.
A quarrel followed before the deceased was pushed down to the ground and the suspect attacked him by stabbing him with a broken bottle of beer.
The suspect rushed to the Kitale Police Station to record a statement, claiming he was attacked by the deceased.
He was locked in.
The body of the deceased was taken to Cherengany Hospital awaiting post-mortem. The suspect is cooling heels at the Kitale Police Station, awaiting to be charged with murder.
