Kambi Moto residents in Lumakanda Location of Lugari Sub-County, have been left in shock after the body of a man was discovered decomposing in a sugarcane plantation alongside his burial permit.
Samwuel Makokha, the area village elder, said the body was found by young men who were spraying herbicide on the farm.
“One of the young men called me and told me that they had seen the decomposing body of a man. I informed the area assistant chief and went to the scene and found it was true,” told West FM’s Joseph Amunya Otieno.
Villagers couldn’t believe that the body was of a resident because the mud and clothes looked unfamiliar.
Munyuki assistant chief, Celestine Asige, said that an identification card and two death certificates signed by an assistant chief of Matsakha Sub-Location in Malava Sub-County were found dumped near the body.
The body is lying in Webuye mortuary as investigations commence.
