Eugine Wamalwa, Kenya’s Defence Cabinet Secretary, has revealed that he will be vying to be the country’s president in 2027.
Eugine, who is also acting CS Devolution, stated that this is part of an effort to rekindle the spirit of late Luhya leaders Masinde Muliro and Michael Kijana Wamalwa.
Speaking on West FM’s Crossfire on Sunday, Wamalwa expressed disappointment by how the Mulembe community has always been used by politicians from other communities to advance their interests.
Wamalwa said he would be making the bid after Azimio la Umoja presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga finishes his first term if he will be elected in the upcoming election.
“Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential candidate Raila Odinga means well for the region and has demonstrated that in the past by working closely with leaders from Luhya land,” he said.
On the heated discussion about the cost of living, Wamalwa said that the issue prevails across the world, majorly caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia crisis.
He said the government is on the run to bring down the cost of essential products as well as bring down the price of maize flour.
