Police in Kakamega is looking to arrest a 40-year-old man and his accomplices who helped him marry a 16-year-old orphaned girl who had just finished her KCSE 2022.
The man, identified as Hassan of Nubian origin, is well-off and is said to have married the young girl with the help of her aunt, Rahma.
Rahma claims her niece is 19, contradicting medical reports from Kakamega Referral Hospital which indicate she is 16.
The family of Hassan later came to abandon her because she would disappear from home for weeks and resurface later.
She would then, luckily, be rescued by The Great Assignment organization’s Mr. Dancan Otieno.
The girl, before reuniting with her husband for a week, had been staying with her university boyfriend for three months since she was chased away by Mr. Hassan.
The boyfriend also chased her away.
Her aunt Rahma has been arrested and is in police custody as investigations continue.
