A presiding officer at the Lugari Primary Station has been arrested for altering MCA results to favor a candidate in the Member of the County Assembly race in Lugari Ward.
A source reveals that an altercation ensued between agents after Peter Ssemulati, a presiding officer attached to one polling station at the Lugari Polling Centre, allegedly altered results in the form 36A and gave the 113 votes received by Grey Moi, who was vying on the ODM ticket, to Richard Sisa who had garnered 13 votes in the polling station.
He then awarded Mr. Moi the 13 votes meant for Mr. Sisa.
Moi’s agents doubted the votes awarded to their candidate and ordered a recount, something which the presiding officer was against. Upon recount, it was discovered that the votes had been swiped between Moi and Sisa.
The case was taken up by the DCI and the presiding officer is being held at Lumakanda Police Station, according to the source.
Attempts to get a word from Lugari Sub-county OCPD Bernard Ngungu were futile. He said he was working on tallying votes and would reach out later.
