Lugari: One-year-old girl dies after falling into a borehole

She was playing at a neighbor’s compound

The body of a one-and-a-half-year-old girl in Forrestal Village of Lumakanda, Lugari Sub-county, has been retrieved from a well.

The little girl’s body was discovered by a 12-year-old boy who was drawing water in the well that’s usually left uncovered.

Edwin Nashibore, Mwamba Sub-location assistant chief, confirmed the incident and told West FM’s Joseph Amunya Otieno that the baby was playing with children in the neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

According to the administrator, the child’s mother was assured by a neighbor around 9.30 a.m. that her daughter was safe but would soon discover she was missing.

While looking for her, the mother was informed that there was the body of a child discovered in a well a few meters away.

She rushed to the scene and found people pulling out the body of her daughter.

Turbo Police Station officers took the body to Kimbilio Mortuary for a post-mortem as investigations commence.
