A family in Makutano Village of Mautuma Ward, Lugari Sub-county, is asking for help to transport the body of their kin who died after traveling from abroad.
Metrine Lutomia, the deceased’s mother, said her daughter Noel Lutomia, 22, died in Nairobi just after traveling from Saudi Arabia in the Middle East where she had worked for two months as a housemaid.
“My daughter started complaining of stomach problems on Thursday (last week) before she was rushed to a hospital in Nairobi and was discharged. She nursed the illness until Sunday when I last talked to her at 6 PM before I received news that she was no more at 8 PM,” said the distraught mother.
Mrs. Lutomia said her daughter had been complaining about stomach problems, the reason she prematurely flew back. She rubbished claims that she died while still abroad.
“I want to confirm that my daughter didn’t die while abroad, she died just after landing home at the JKIA,” she said.
Noel has left behind a 5-year-old son, who his grandmother says needs help because his mother was his sole provider.
Her father, Tom Lutomia, said the family needs at least Sh150,000 to facilitate transportation of his daughter’s body from the Kiambu Mortuary in the city.
“We are clinging on well-wishers to help us raise the money because we don’t have any other means,” he said.
