A man in Butere, Kakamega County, has been forced to return his son’s body to the mortuary after he was stopped by his family from burying him in their ancestral land.
John Mukolwe from Bulunda Village took his son from a mortuary for burial, but his ambition was cut short after his brothers stopped the ceremony midway.
It is alleged that Mukolwe sold the land he was given by his father and later relocated to town, contrary to his brothers’ advice, led by Given Mulolwe, not to sell the piece of land.
“Our brother sold all his property, including all the land, not leaving even a piece where he will be buried,” Given said.
Shocked villagers and mourners watched the drama as Mulolwe took away the casket with his son’s body back to the mortuary.
