Netizens have reacted to a post on the official Facebook page of Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya endorsing Kakamega gubernatorial candidate for ANC, Cleophas Malala even as polls in the county and other places across the country kick off.
The post, which was published around 9.02 am, bears the image of Malala with the hashtag *#voteCleophasWakhunguMalalah*.
It is public knowledge that Governor Oparanya endorsed ODM candidate Fernande Barasa for the position and not Cleophas Malala.
Oparanya has dismissed the post and claimed that his Facebook page was hacked by “agents of doom”. ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has also confirmed that the account was hacked and they are working on the issue.
“This is to notify the general public that my Facebook page has been hacked by agents of doom. Ignore any post on my Facebook page as we wait for DCI to handle the matter and restore it,” Oparanya confirmed on Twitter.
A majority of netizens have dismissed the post saying it is a scheme to sway voting preference in favor of Malala.
