Woman held at gunpoint, driven away for bribing voters at a polling station

There have been reports of voter bribery in polling stations in Kakamega County.

Drama was witnessed at the Ibinzo primary school polling station in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County after a woman was held at gunpoint, bundled into a car and driven to an unknown location after being accused of bribing voters.

The woman is said to have been confronted by a group of youths wielding a pistol and pushed into a Toyota Land Cruiser, which sped off.

The incident has been reported to the IEBC officials and police and investigations have commenced.

The location where the woman has been taken to is still unknown. The vehicle is reported to belong to a politician from Kakamega County.

This comes amid reports of voter bribery in polling stations in Kakamega County.

Among those who have raised the concern is Kakamega County outgoing Governor Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya who said he visited several polling stations and witnessed voters being bribed outside polling centers.
