A man in Sinoko area of Mautuma Ward, Lugari Sub-county, is nursing serious injuries after he was attacked by unknown people for allegedly bribing voters.
Confirming the incident, the area Nyumba Kumi elder, Mzee Emanuel Jeremiah, said that the man, identified as Alfred Songoi, suffered serious injuries on his arms and back following the assault.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was spotted giving out money to voters in order to convince them to vote for one of the candidates.
“They attacked him with rungus thinking he was giving out money,” an eyewitness said.
Area chief Pamela Kulali confirmed the incident and called on residents to maintain peace during and after the elections.
