A girl from Lugari Constituency, who died in Nairobi just after arriving from Saudi Arabia, was on Wednesday laid to rest at her home in Makutano Village, Mautuma Ward.
Noel Lutomia, 22, is said to have been suffering from a severe stomachache which forced her to travel back after working for only two months in the Middle East.
The young woman was admitted to a hospital in Nairobi, where she was staying with her relative and later succumbed to her illness.
Her body got stuck at a mortuary in Kiambu pending a huge bill of about Sh150,000 that her family pleaded with well-wishers to help offset.
Her mother, Metrine Lutomia, remembers her daughter’s last moments.
“Noel was my best friend, a girl who could listen to you and was outstanding. We need your payers,” she said.
Mourners who got the opportunity to speak expressed sorrow and loss, saying Noel was a young and ambitious mother as well as a devouted Christian.
“I knew Noel while she was young. She was cool and respected by everyone, despite her age. May her soul rest in peace,” Mama Mbayachi, a neighbor, said.
