Bryan Munika Liseche, a candidate in the Lugari parliamentary poll in the August 9, 2022 general elections, has revealed that he used a whopping Sh25 million to fund his campaigns.
Mr. Liseche, an ex-military officer who vied on Cyrus Jirongo’s United Democratic Party (UDP) ticket, said he pumped cash into his non-stop campaigns between May 29 (just after the IEBC officially gave a nod to campaigns) and August 9, the day of the election.
The businessman-turned-politician revealed this while commenting on a story by the Western Kenya Times about a Lugari Ward MCA candidate who decided to go on vacation to cool his mind after a heartbreaking election loss.
“Tell him to be a man. It’s not a do-or-die thing. I started my campaigns in 2017 until August 9th (2022). I cannot account for what I have spent in harambees, school fees, solidarity, funerals, etc., ” he said.
The ambitious politician said the loss hasn’t shaken him and that he will be back to the race stronger and better this time eyeing the 2027 election.
“I don’t regret, I miss rallies. I am going to start immediately. It’s not for the faint-hearted,” he said.
Mr. Liseche, who garnered 5,562 votes, came fourth in a hotly contested race that invited 12 candidates.
Nabii Nabwera carried the day after receiving 23,159 votes against 11,086 votes of Isaac Andabwa of DAP-K, who came second.
