Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula has resigned from his post as Bungoma Senator-elect to run for the Speaker of the National Assembly post.
Wetangula, as a pre-election agreement, has been chosen as Kenya Kwanza’s favorite in vying for the seat that is also attracting Azimo la Umoja’s Kenneth Marende, a former Speaker.
The lawmaker is forced by law to let go of his Senator post to be eligible for the Speaker position.
Just after tendering his resignation, the leader endorsed his long-serving personal assistant, Wafula Wakoli, to take over from him as the next Senator of Bungoma.
