Former Luanda MP Christopher Omulele elected Speaker of Vihiga County Assembly

The former lawmaker floored his opponents in a race that attracted 12 candidates.

Former Luanda MP Christopher Omulele has been elected as the Speaker of the third Assembly of Vihiga County after flooring his opponents in the race that attracted 12 candidates.

Omulele, who vied for the third time but this round lost to Maungu, garnered 22 votes against 14 votes of his closest rival, Hillary Adolwa.

The county has 25 elected and 11 nominated members in its Assembly.

Gisambai Ward MCA Erick Odei was elected Deputy Speaker in the exercise that was conducted by Assembly clerk Kilinga Ambaka.
