National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has expressed his joy after his Twitter account received a blue badge after years of remaining unverified.
The account, which is now boasting of 933,000 followers, was verified on Saturday, two weeks after he was elected National Assembly Speaker and resigned from his post as Bungoma Senator-elect.
Wetang’ula announced the new achievement with joy and wrote: “Finally, Twitter verified us tweeps.”
The verification of Wetang’ula’s official account will help Twitter users to determine fake information tweeted by parody accounts, which also have a good number of followers.

Support our Journalism
The Western Kenya Times is a digital media platform with more than 500,000 email subscribers and followers across all social media platforms. It was founded in March 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, by a team of young professionals in the media industry.
We have grown to be one of the most reliable, independent, factual, and highly admired digital media platforms in Kenya because of our journalism, which has impacted hundreds of families and enabled children to join school, continue with their studies, and get food.
From the very beginning, we have relied solely on our own resources to sustain this incredible work. However, we firmly believe that our growth potential knows no bounds, and we invite you to be a part of our journey. Your support can help us expand our reach, touch even more lives, and foster a society that thrives on truth, untainted by commercial or political manipulation.
