Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula has promised to remain loyal to his boss, Fernandes Barasa, and that he is even ready to continue serving under him past the 2027 polls.
The former Lugari MP, while speaking during a consultative meeting on the County Budget Review and Outlook Paper for 2022, rallied for unity and cooperation among county staff and asked them to shun creating rifts in the government.
“We have only one governor, the head of Kakamega County. For us to deliver, we must follow his direction. When you come to my office, please don’t come with gossip, I am not ready to consume poison,” he said.
The DAP-K deputy party leader said that he doesn’t have any serious political ambitions and is therefore comfortable in his position.
“I am a son of a pastor. In 2027, I will remain deputy to Fernandes Barasa. I am only 40 years old, where am I running to? Let us deliver because we are working for the people of Kakamega County. We have a five-year contract, it will depend on how the executive delivers. If you deliver properly, it will be easy for us to go back to wananchi to ask for votes,” he said.
