Ebola survivors to abstain from sex for 90 days

The virus could stay in semen for 3 months even after one recovers.

Survivors of the dreaded Ebola disease have to wait for at least three months or use condoms before having sex as a means to curb the spread of the virus.

Uganda’s Ministry of Health said that although Ebola is not considered a sexually transmitted disease, studies have shown that the virus can remain in sperms even after recovery.

Scientists say studies done in Liberia reveal that a woman was infected with the disease after she had intercourse with a male survivor.

An Ebola outbreak, which has been ravaging Uganda and other countries of Central and West Africa, was again reported a week ago in the East African Country.
