Residents of Lunyito Village in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County, are calling upon the police to retrieve the body of a man which was discovered three days ago in River Nzoia.
The body was discovered by a man fishing after his attention was caught by a foul smell coming from the river.
According to a resident, who said the body is headless, police officers from Franks Police Station visited the scene on Saturday morning after receiving the news but left without retrieving the body.
A Facebook user posted that the man could be known in the area.
Residents are now complaining of the foul smell emanating from the river and now want the responsible authorities to retrieve it immediately and carry out investigations to ascertain the identity of the deceased and the cause of his death.
Efforts to get word from Lugari Sub-county OCPD Bernard Ngungu on the matter failed because he could not receive calls.
