Drama was witnessed in Mungai Village in Malava Sub-county, Kakamega County, after a brother and his sister were discovered to be living together as husband and wife in a rented house away from the village.
Fred Makokha and Rebecca Makokha, who are in their early 20s, were then handcuffed for punishment by the elders for having broken cultural norms despite being siblings.
The Elders alluded that the two went against the matrimonial code and they were risking siring babies with complications and those who would die prematurely.
The two were given 10 strokes of the cane and cleansed to rid the village of a possible curse brought about by their misdeed.
A bull was slaughtered and the intestinal components smeared on the culprits in the absence of women and without the siblings uttering a word.
