Ruto asked to keep off the Bungoma senatorial race

The seat was left vacant after Moses Wetang’ula resigned for the National Assembly Speaker post.

As the December 8 Bungoma Senatorial by-election draws near, leaders are putting up strategies to help their candidates win the seat that was left vacant after Moses Wetang’ula resigned for the National Assembly Speaker post.

Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga is now calling upon President William Ruto not to field a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, saying those fronted by the Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga are brokers who are after the Head of State’s money.

Speaking in Kabuchai after meeting Ford-Kenya officials, the MP said the party has endorsed Wafula Wakoli, a close ally of Mr. Wetang’ula, to contest.

Both UDA and Ford-Kenya are part of the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, which helped stir Ruto to the presidency.

The other five places that will have elections on that day are Ololmasani, Kyome/Thaana, Utawala, Mumias North and South Gem Wards in Narok, Kitui, Nairobi City, Kakamega, and Siaya County Assemblies respectively.
