A new state-of-the-art administration block and four door classrooms have been unveiled at St. Pius Katelenyang Secondary School in Teso South, Busia county.
In a colorful event held today and graced by Rev. Bishop Victor Odukhula, the school principal Mr. Joseph Wafula thanked parents, the community and Board of Management (BOM) for ensuring the school’s growth.
The new classrooms will see decongestion in various streams and now challenge the school to acquire more teachers.
Reports indicate that most secondary schools in Busia County are grappling with congestion due to increased enrolment, forcing principals to convert classroom corridors, stores, libraries and disused buildings into classrooms to cope with huge numbers.
When the government announced resumption of learning in schools early this year, many institutions faced the challenge of attaining social distance in classrooms as it was directed by the Ministry of Health.
With the fight against Cocvid-19 pandemic, the government announced a raft of measures which learning institutions were expected to attain so as to contain the spread of coronavirus among students.
