Kenya’s President William Ruto has arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, ahead of the kick off of the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP27) meeting.
The President, who has been keen on putting up measure to combat climate change in Kenya, has lead a delegation and will also lead African Continent Heads of State.
COP27 is bringing together 130 Heads of State to chat way forward in combating climate change in the world.
Ruto will on Monday deliver two statements, one for Kenya and another for Africa to 40,000 delegates as the week-long conference opens tomorrow.
The COP27 was officially openly by Egypt’s minister of foreign affairs, Sameh Shoukry on Sunday.
Some of the things to be discussed is the issue in Africa in which drought has ravaged most parts of the continent including Kenya where more than 4.5 million people are facing starvation as animals die and vegetation dry.
A message from State House Nairobi said Ruto will advocate for the implementation of the Paris Agreement adopted by 196 Parties at COP21 in 2015 that undertakes to combat climate change and adapt to its effects.
