The Federal Party of Kenya candidate Jacob Machacha has withdrawn from Bungoma senatorial by-election race.

Machacha will now back United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Mwambu Mabonga.

Speaking to the press, Machacha said he will drum up support for a Kenya kwanza candidate, citing rifts in Azimio.

This comes shorty after Azimio unveiled former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi to carry the Azimio flag in the senatorial mini polls slated for December 8.

In the August general election, Machacha garnered 53,000 votes against the then senator Moses Wetangula.

Others in the race are Raidon Munoko, Wafula Wakoli, Wafula Wamunyinyi and security expert Enock Makokha.
