Widowed women in Lumakanda Ward in Lugari Sub-county, Kakamega County are all smiles after aspiring MP for the Lugari Constituency in 2022 Brian Liseche (BL) donated gifts for the new year to them.
Through his personal assistant Mark Walubengo, the aspirant gave the women soap, sugar, cooking oil and some cash to help them start the new year off in a jovial mood.
“The aspiring MP has an agenda for all in Lugari including minorities like widows and neglected people like the youth. His wish is to see a better society after the 2022 general elections,” Mr. Walubengo said.
The women expressed satisfaction by the aspirant’s gratitude and promised to support his parliamentary bid.
“It is such a great honor from our leader Brain Liseche for recognizing widows in the new year. We pray that his ambition may come true so that Lugari wakes up like other constituencies,” said Mama Faith Sikolia, who has been facing stigma from society after her husband passed on years ago.
Liseche’s developmental agenda
Mr. Liseche, who will contest on former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo’s URP ticket, has been behind a number of projects geared towards uplifting communities such as digging and renovating boreholes, putting up latrines in schools and helping needy students raise fees.
In 2019, the aspirant chipped into the school requirements of Florah Awinja from Kiwanja Ndege Village in Lugari Location who was to join Butere Girls High School but did not have enough cash.
He has also been supporting talent among youths by sponsoring tournaments including the recent Jonah Super Cup in Chenjeni, Chevaywa Ward as well as contributing to fundraisings.
