Kenyans all over ushered the new year in pomp and style, many acknowledging that it is going to be one no one would wish to miss, thanks to the many events put on the calendar. Here we highlight some of them.

Two KCSE, KCPE exams in one year

The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019 prompted the suspension of learning in Kenyan schools and disrupted the exam calendar even after they resumed. One set of exams was undertaken in March last year as the ministry intended to roll out two this year. The first set of exams for2022 will be done from 28th February and will end on 1st April 2022 for KCSE as KCPE will be done from 7th March to 9th March 2022.

The second set of KNEC exams will be done in December 2022.

The competitive general elections

This year Kenya will be conducting the general election scheduled to take place on 9th August 2022.

Voters will be electing the fifth President, Members of the National Assembly and Senate, Governors and Members of the County Assemblies.

A few months prior to that, the President will dissolve Parliament. This will be after massive political campaigns, nominations and coalitions.

The AFCON, the EPL and the World Cup

In the world of sports, two major events are going down this year. AFCON is now all over as African nations are expected to show down in the major sports competition on the continent.

It has been the talk of the town in recent days with many airing their views on whether the EPL players should join their national teams or not.

The much-anticipated cup is scheduled to begin on 9th January 2022 and end on 6th February 2022.
The delay was caused by the outbreak of Covid-19. It was supposed to be played in 2019.

The event will be taking place in Cameroon and Kenya will not be participating as it was eliminated during the qualifiers.

Later in the year, after a wait of four years, FIFA World Cup is here and it will be held in Qatar from 21st November to 18th December 2022. Unfortunately, Kenya will not be participating as it did not perform well during the qualifying matches.
