ODM leader Raila Odinga has announced the start of countrywide rallies to engage the public on the petition in parliament to ouster of IEBC chair Juliana Cherera and other three commissioners.
Raila said the rallies will begin in major cities and then spread to small towns.
The move is to engage Kenyans on the matter of the four commissioners – Juliana Cherera, Justus Nyang’anya, Irene Masit, and Francis Wanderi, before arriving at a final stand.
“We will have a meeting on Wednesday, November 30, at the Kamukunji grounds to ask them is they accept these commissioners to be sent home,” he said.
He said President Ruto is going after the four commissioners because they refused his demands and that he wants to do away with the IEBC staff to clean his way to the 2027 general election.
“This regime which came into power through rigging elections is hell-bent to send home commissioners who stood firm on the truth.
IEBC is a referee and cannot be appointed by a player. So we will not allow Kenya Kwisha to impose a commission, that’s not acceptable,” Odinga said.
