Senegal beats Ecuador to proceed to knock-out stage

Chelsea defender Koulibaly scored a decisive goal for Senegal’s win.

Senegal secured their slot in the World Cup last 16 after a thrilling showdown against Ecuador in Group A battle in Doha this evening.

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly scored a decisive goal at the 70th minute of the second-half and sealed the fate of the Lions of Teranga at the Khalifa International Stadium, just minutes after Moses Caicedo of Brighton netted a goal to cancel a penalty by Ismaila Sarr before the break.

The Lions of Terenga have now qualified for the knock-out stage for the second time in their history since 20 years ago.

Senegal finished second in Group A with 6 points behind Netherlands which finished with 7 goals after beating hosts Qatar 2-0 in their last group match in Al Khor.
