Four people heading to a wedding have been reported dead and others sustaining severe injuries after a bus bound for a wedding in Karen, Nairobi, overturned at Njuri in Tharaka Nithi County along the Meru-Nairobi highway.
The bus, which belongs to Ruiru Girls’s High School in Kiambu County, is said to have been transporting nearly 46 passengers before it lost control at around 5 am this morning after one of its tires burst, a witness said.
Operations to rescue people trapped in the bus were launched by Tharaka Nithi Disaster Manager, Alex Mugambi.
The injured were rushed to Chuka County Referral Hospital as the dead were taken to a nearby morgue.
