Lugari: Class 7 boy breaks into house, steals maize

The boy sold the maize at Sh100 per kg.

A class seven pupil from Mlimani East Village in Mautuma Ward, Lugari Sub-county, received strokes of the cane from the area village elder after breaking into a house and stealing 18kgs of maize.

The area nyumba kumi officer, Antony Mola, while confirming the incident, said he received information from his residents that a house had been broken into and maize stolen.

Mr. Mola found the door broken and maize stolen and maize scattered on the floor and in the compound.

“It is true that maize was stolen by a small boy age 14. A neighbor to Mr. Msungu, the owner of the house, did not take any action. He called us and we did investigation and found the boy and he accepted that he was the one,” he said.

The 14-year-old boy admitted that he sold the maize at Sh100 per kg to Margaret Nakhumicha, who deals in maize business.

Mama Nakhumicha confirmed that she received the maize, and that the boy told him he was sent by his grandmother.
