A man in Nyagoro tradiing centre in East Kochia Location, Homa Bay County, has committed suicide after allegedly poisoning and stabbing his four children.
The children aged between 3 and 9 years sustained serious injuries from their father Ronnie Ochieng’ Nyore on Tuesday evening inside their rental house and are in a critical condition.
Ronnie is said to have stabbed the children in the stomach using a kitchen knife after he allegedly poisoned them using a pesticide known as Triatix used in controlling ticks in livestock, East Kochia chief Kennedy Odero said.
“An empty bottle of a pesticide believed to be used by the deceased to take away his life after poisoning his children before stabbing them using a kitchen knife was found,” he said, adding that Ronnie might have locked himself at his rental house in Nyagoro Center together with the four children.
Ronnie then committed suicide by consuming the pesticide.
The chief said that the man has been in a constant domestic feud with his wife who had even gone to report him at Omoya chief’s camp.
When she came back home, she found her husband locked inside the house. Upon pushing the door, she found the children lying in a pool of blood and her husband lifeless.
The deceased’s body was taken to the county referral mortuary awaiting post mortem.
