Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Mathira constituency Matu Wamae has been confirmed dead at his home this morning aged 89.
Wame was born in Kianyingi Village in Mathira constituency in 1933 and he served three consecutive terms from 1983 to 1988.
He was defeated by Ngibuini Kuguru in 1988, and again from 1992 to 2002, when Nderitu Gachagua was elected on a Narc- Kenya ticket.
He served as the chairman of the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) for 15 years.
He wrote the book ‘Born to Serve,’ narrating the 24-year rule of the late President Daniel Moi and its impact on the Kikuyu community.
