An accident at Mabanga along the Eldoret Webuye highway led to the death of a truck driver who lost control of his vehicle while trying to overtake another truck and at the same time avoiding hitting a matatu.
The petrol tanker, which was on speed, hit the rear of the other truck, and the driver died on the spot.
Justus Mwanzia, the driver of the truck that was hit in the rear, says the road was slippery due to a drizzle and that his efforts to pave way for the tanker to pass did not help.
“I saw him through the side mirror and even went to the extreme side of the road so he could pass, but he lost control due to high speed and the slipperiness of the road caused by the drizzle,” Mwanzia told West FM.
The body of the driver was removed from the scene by police from Lumakanda Police Station and taken to Kimbilio Mortuary in Uasin Gishu County.
