Fans present at Panpaper grounds were treated to a thrilling opening match of the Lugari NG-CDF Football Tournament between hosts Panpaper FC and Kulumbeni FC in the presence of area MP Nabii Nabwera, his guest Sirisia MP John Wakule and four area MCAs.
The two teams held each other to a 1-1 draw in regular time before the match headed to penalty shootouts.
The teams seemed equal in ability even in the penalties shootouts until the 10th one in which Panpaper faulted and lost.
Kulumbeni, which will proceed to the next level, was awarded Sh40,000 in the opening ceremony as Panpaper, which is exiting the tournament, received Sh25,000.
The tournament will proceed until January 18, when the final will be held to determine the winner.
Eight teams in each of the six wards are participating.
