President Ruto scores a ‘D’ on economic pledges in his first 100 days

The president scored a C of 52.5 points on overall.

The latest survey by Infotrak has rated President William Ruto’s first 100 days based on economic pledges he made during the campaign period.

The survey was conducted between December 21 and December 22 and involved a sample size of 840 Kenyans.

President Ruto scored 49.2 points (D) in his attainment of economic pledges, garnering the lowest scores in making food affordable and accessible to Kenyans, lowering the cost of living, and improving the lives of low-income earners.

This implies that President Ruto’s economic pledges require immediate action.

The President has a score of 52.1, or a C, as the overall score, which implies a need for improvement in meeting pledges made.

Ruto earned a C of 55.9 percent on governance pledges, which include the appointment of six judges rejected by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and the reforming of institutions involved in justice, law, and order.

On instilling gender equality, the President returned a score of C, or 52.5 points, with the highest score coming from the establishment of a women’s rights agency in the office of the President.

His highest score was a B of 59.9 points came from infrastructure pledges, the best being the return of port operations to Mombasa.

Ruto scored the highest in the Eastern region, Central and the Rift Valley, and the lowest in Nyanza and Nairobi, and from youth aged 18 to 26 years and from the female gender, respectively.

The survey also shows the cost of living has climbed from 8.5 percent in August to 9.5 percent at the end of November, with food inflation at 15.3 percent and fuel inflation at 13.8 percent.
