The year 2023 started badly for an entertainment master who suffered severe injuries and ended up with a broken arm after goons allegedly instructed by a church leader attacked him during celebrations last night.
DJ Jangez, who comes from Lugari Station, says he was with his four friends, also members of his crew, on a motorbike heading to Chekalini from Musembe when they met a crowd made up of African Divine Church (ADC) faithfuls near a place called Brookside.
He said they tried with difficulty hooting for the crowd to give way on the road before a leader of the crowd, suspected to have been leading the ADC members in matching to welcome the new year, ordered goons to attack them.
“We were thoroughly beaten by the goons who wielded canes. I sustained serious injuries, including a broken arm, and even lost my 500 GB hard drive. I was to perform at Pumzika Launch in Matete today (New Year Day),” he said.
The DJ said his main concern is losing the hard drive that contains his projects. Their motorbike was also destroyed, and its parts, including the battery, stolen.
“The performance I was to make today is also botched. Hard to believe that the new year had to start this way,” he lamented.
Jangez retreated back to his home and is planning to go to hospital before reporting the case to the police station.
