Umri Football Club from Mumias West Sub-county are the new champions of the Kakamega County Governor’s Football Bonanza, 2022.
Umri defeated Lirhembe Arsenal from Ikolomani Sub-county 2-1 in the final played at the Mumias Sports Complex in Mumias on New Year’s Day in a function attended by Governor Fernandes Barasa.
In the men’s third place playoffs, Nangili beat Solofa 4-1.
Mwira Ladies thrashed Lugari Progressive 2-1 in the ladies finals to win the cup, while Misango Queens beat Isulu Starlets 2-1 to secure third place in the playoffs.
Governor Barasa announced that the 2023 edition of the tournament will start at the ward level in October, with the finals being played at Bukhungu Stadium in December.
