Hundreds of mourners flocked to Jerusalem Village in Mautuma Ward to pay their last respects to Mama Robai Khalaya Wasike, who was brutally raped and killed on the night of December 26, 2022, at her home.
The thugs broke into her house by digging through a wall, did the unthinkable to her, and made off with three bags of maize.
“The thugs responsible must know her very well. She stays alone. It is our plea that relevant authorities take action,” her son, Leonard Wanjala, said.
Mourners who eulogized her praised her as a God-fearing woman who was friendly and welcoming.
“The death of my mother has left behind a gap that is not easy to fill. We need your prayers,” her elder son, Wasike, said.
Leutenant Moreen Juma, a pastor at Mwanganza Salvation Army Church, where Mama Robai used to attend, remembered her last memories with the late grandma.
“She promised me that on January 1, 2023, she would give me a present, but on the same day she was lying in a mogue. May those responsible for her death face God’s punishment,” she said.
Present at the burial ceremony were former and current Mautuma Ward MCAs Stephen Mulonga and Charles Anyona, respectively.
