A man in Mufutu Village in Lugari Location, Lugari Sub-county has committed suicide by hanging himself following unending domestic feuds with his wife.
The man by the name Arnold Ambeyi, who is his late 50s, was discovered dead in his bedroom by his grandson who had gone to call him to come have supper with them in celebration of reunion with their son who had come from Nairobi.
Philip Okutu, a neighbor, said the man’s action could have been triggered by his wife’s decision to move to a rental house nearby to stay alone following a disagreement.
“The wife has, for the last two days, been moving things from the house to her new rented home nearby. She had come for more items before she could settle to start living alone,” he said.
Mr. Okutu added that the victim’s wife was preparing a sumptuous meal, probably the last one for her husband, to welcome their son who had come from Nairobi, not knowing that Ambeyi was up to taking his own life in the other room.
The woman sent her grandson to go call her husband to join them for supper, only for the little boy to find his grandfather’s body dangling from the room of the bedroom at around 9 PM.
Mr. Okutu said the man might have died earlier at 6 PM without the family, which was busy on other things, noticing.
Lugari OCPD Bernard Ngungu, who was in a meeting at the time this story was published, promised to call back to confirm where the body of the deceased man was taken and what action follows.
