Three children of unknown ages were on Tuesday night burnt to death inside their father’s house in Kangundo, Machakos County, in what is said to be a land row.
According to neighbors who spoke to the press in the morning hours of Wednesday, the family was a polygamous one, with the man of the house ordering one of the two wives he had married to vacate and move out after a long-term misunderstanding that existed between them.
In this regard, a family meeting was held last Saturday where the woman was given the official notice to vacate, which she resisted. It is after this that the man is alleged to have hatched a plan to hire goons to evict the woman forcefully from her residence.
It is not yet clear whether the goons are responsible for the heinous act or the fire was as a result of natural causes.
Kangundo OCPD Mr. Zacharia Bitok has issued an order for investigations to establish the root cause of the fire and the untimely death of the three children, even as their bodies have been moved to the Kangundo Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and burial.
It’s sad, family break ups are scary. Very scary.
We need mental health education to men suffering out here.
