Bryan Liseche officially in the Lugari MP race after receiving Jirongo’s UDP ticket

Aspiring Member of Parliament for Lugari Constituency, Bryan Liseche, has made a step forward in the race after the United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Jirongo handed him a direct ticket.

Jirongo, who was Lugari MP between 1997 and 2007, hosted Liseche at the party headquarters in Westlands, Nairobi, where they deliberated on key party and policy matters before he was officially handed over the ticket to contest in the race to succeed Ayub Savula.

“I have decided that it is the UDP as early as this because, as a confident leader, I want to assert my will to the people to prove beyond any doubt that Lugari can awaken without putting political parties into much consideration. I am going to give them a run for their money. Wait and see,” he told the Western Kenya Times.

The ambitious leader, who has been behind numerous community-based projects such as renovating classrooms and paying fees for needy students, said he has a great agenda for the youth of Lugari.

“I want the youth to know that I have a great purpose for them. I want to invest a lot in employment opportunities such that they won’t be forced to go to the City for work. I want them to stay here and invest at home, ” he said.

A former member of the military and a great businessman, Liseche believes that his talent is what Lugari needs to pick in the August polls.

‘Revive the Jirongo legacy’

Liseche asserts that one of the reasons he has chosen to run under the UDP ticket is that he believes Jirongo was and still is a capable Luhya leader who needs the support of people like him.

“I was talking to him and shared with him a few tips on how it may be possible for him to sweep over Kakamega County,” he said, suggesting that Jirongo may vie to be Kakamega governor or senator.

Liseche, who comes out as one of the most popular and powerful forces in the Lugari contest, is expected to launch his campaign machinery in the near future.

“That is coming very soon, and it will be a wave to reckon with,” he said.

Vincent Saidi, one of Liseche’s confidants, said the aspirant is the best Lugari can bank on.

“Lugari, for the longest time, has never had an honest leader who is development-minded. I have known Bryan Liseche for 20 years. He is an economist who has proved to be one, as shown by his successful businesses within Lugari and other towns. He has helped more than five students pursue their dreams in education,” he said.
