Lugari: Thieves break into butchery, steal 28 kg of meat

The incident has been blamed on the high level of unemployment in the region.

A man in Mlimani area of Mautuma Ward in Lugari Sub-county has woken up to his biggest shock of the year after thieves broke into his butchery and stole 28 kg of meat worth around Sh11,000.

A distraught Brown Eregwa Gachuria told the Western Kenya Times that the thugs smashed a window and gained entry into his shop.

“They stole my 28 kg of meat and left nothing. I am calling upon security agencies within Mautuma Ward to investigate and bring the culprits to book,” he said.

Mr. Gachuria said the business is his only hope and his family highly depend on it.

He reported the case to the Mlimani Police Station.

He said the rising number of criminal cases is a result of youths lacking jobs. He urged the government to create job opportunities for young people.
