A man in Buhayi Village, in Navakholo Sub-county, Kakamega County, has been arrested for killing his wife after he accused her of cheating with their neighbor.
The man, John Wafula Wawire, 67, is said to have followed his wife, Rose Atieno Wafula, 54, after she had gone to mend her shoes at their neighbor’s home and hit her with a jembe after an altercation ensued.
The neighbor, known as Njolila, works as a cobbler.
The man, who is said to have been brought to the attention of her wife’s presence at their neighbor’s home, claimed to have found them having sex.
“I found my mother silent and motionless. I called a motorbike and took her to the hospital in Navakholo. When we arrived, the medic who received her said she had already passed away,” her daughter, Nelima Wafula, said.
A relative said the neighbor was drinking with the suspect in the morning before he went back home.
The family is now pleading for help to take the body of the deceased from the mortuary and facilitate a decent send off.
The suspect is in police custody as the body of the deceased awaits post mortem.
