Mautuma residents two days in the dark after electric pole collapsed

The residents are calling upon technicians from KPLC to act with speed.

Residents of Munge market in Mautuma Ward, Lugari Sub-county, are calling upon the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) to move with speed and repair an electric pole that collapsed and led to a black out that has now lasted for two days.

Homes, premises, and institutions affected lie on the Munge-Mlimani and Amasachwe Mlimani roads.

Led by Peter Simiyu Maside, the residents said their businesses are at a standstill since they depend on electricity to run things.

“I have a workshop that depends on electricity, and the youths whom I have employed are idle now. If this continues like this, we’re going to count losses,” he said.

Schools in the area are also affected, with learning activities paralyzed.
