President William Ruto has appointed former Kanduyi Member of Parliament Alfred Waswa Khang’ati as the chairperson of Nzoia Sugar Company.
In a gazette notice seen by the Western Kenya Times, Khang’ati will chair the board of directors for a term of three years.
Khang’ati won the Kanduyi seat in 2007 on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
In 2013, he unsuccessfully vied for the Bungoma County governor’s seat. He made his second stab in 2017 for the same seat, but he was floored by businessman Wycliffe Wangamati.
Contacted by this writer, Khang’ati said he will weed out cartels at the sugar Mill.
Also appointed as a member is former one-term Bumula lawmaker Bonface Ostyula.
