Malala proclaims himself Luhya kingpin, rallies Mulembe nation behind Ruto

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has proclaimed himself the Luhya kingpin who is on a course to ensure the people from Mulembe nation hold hands with deputy president William Ruto’s Kalenjin community.

Speaking during today’s Ruto’s rally in Eldoret Sports Club Ground, Malala said he is undeterred by the words of his opponents from the Azimio la Umoja camp.

“I have heard fellows from the Azimio la Umoja claiming that I am selling Mudavadi to Ruto…They should know that their enemies are not our enemies, ” he said.

The outspoken leader, who was under fire recently for threatening to stop Raila Odinga’s Bukhungu Stadium Azimio la Umoja event, boasted of his achievements, including how he swiftly rose to be a senator after serving as MCA.

Graced in ANC party colours, Malala stated that he attended the rally following Musalia Mudavadi’s stand that the ANC party embraces freedom of association as stipulated in the law.

“My party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, said that we must uphold the Constitution of Kenya, especially the aspect of freedom of association. Therefore, nobody should block us from courting new political allies. I am here courtesy of the sentiments of my party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, ” he said.

However, through a statement posted on its social media accounts, the ANC party has distanced itself from Malala’s sentiments, saying that it sent no representative to the rally.

The ANC spokesperson said that its official mandates only come from the party leader or secretary-general.

“The ANC party would like to disassociate itself with the activities taking place at the Eldoret Sports Club Grounds, where the UDA Party is holding its rally. ANC has not sent anybody to represent either the party or the party leader in the said function,” the statement read.
