A family in Bukondu area in Ikolomani Constituency, Kakamega County, is grieving the death of their kin who disappeared in September 2022 only to be found buried in sand in the neighbor’s compound.
The body of the mother of four was discovered by men digging sand to build a house and stashed in a sack at the home of Fabian Muteshi, who was away in Kitengela for a short holiday.
“We found the head of a person, not an animal. It was separate from the body. It did not have any ears. It looked like it was set on fire. It was unrecognizable,” Muteshi, the owner of the home, told the media.
The woman, known as Rose Kamoya, is said to have disappeared in September 2019 and was last seen in the company of her younger sister.
Police were called to the scene, exhumed the body, and moved it to the Kakamega Funeral Parlor as investigations commenced.
The deceased’s family, led by her father, Paul Misiko, cursed the incident and vowed to punish whoever was responsible for her death.
We (family members) were with her when she disappeared, but we left her here (in Kakamega). However, when we came looking for her the next day, we were told she had returned home. We have never seen or heard from her since then. We have seen the bones here today. The people who were with her when we left her behind are roaming around. They know where Rosa is,” Esther Khabukwi, sister to the deceased, said.
