The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has raised alarm after it emerged that 200 birth certificates got lost in Lugari Sub-county.
A similar case has been raised in Marakwet Sub-county, where 100 birth certificates were confirmed missing.
The ministry’s Civil Registration Services Assistant Secretary Paul Mwangemi made a public announcement on the issue through a local newspaper, rendering the lost documents invalid.
“Any person(s) who may have been issued with any certificate bearing any of the above serial numbers is advised to return it/them to the secretary, Civil Registration Services, 4th floor, Hass plaza, lower hill,” read part of the notice.
The birth certificates in the two sub-counties got lost in three booklets with different serial numbers, as indicated in the public notice.
